Welcome spring with “Hao Bang Ah! Snake,” an original puppet show featuring the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac presented by artists of the internationally acclaimed Chinese Theatre Works, from New York City.
Bring the whole family to this joyful celebration of Pan-Asian American Heritage Month with a performance of traditional “budaixi” Chinese glove puppetry. This year’s show stars the Snake who presides over a selection of wild puppet skits, dances, popular songs, and well-known Chinese sayings that celebrate the wit and wisdom of the zodiac animals.
There will also be tasty dumplings, craft-making activities, and an interactive Q & A with the artists in a hands-on puppet demonstration before and after the show.
Don’t miss this rare puppet theatre-storytelling program and Chinese bilingual cultural enrichment event for the whole family!
Geared for families with kids two to 10 years old.
This is a pay-what-you-wish event with a suggested donation of $25 per family / $5 per person. Please RSVP at the link provided.

About CHINESE THEATRE WORKS
Chinese Theatre Works (CTW) is dedicated to the mission of preserving and promoting traditional Chinese performing arts, creating new works that bridge Eastern and Western theatrical aesthetics and forms, and fostering understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture in audiences around the globe. CTW was founded in 2001 by Co-Artistic Directors, Kuang-Yu Fong and Stephen Kaplin out of the merger of two non-profit institutions with long histories of bringing traditional and contemporary innovative Chinese performing arts to local New York City, national and international audiences – The Gold Mountain Institute for Traditional Shadow Theatre (founded 1975) and Chinese Theatre Workshop (founded 1995). CTW has produced more than 40 original productions to create a unique kind of cross-cultural, visual theater conceived and created with the special combined expertise of Kuang-Yu Fong, a traditional Chinese Opera singer/dancer and scholar, and Stephen Kaplin, master puppeteer and designer in collaboration with other Chinese and Western artists, musicians and puppeteers. CTW’s performances, educational programs and workshops are presented widely throughout New York City’s metropolitan area and in tours for festivals and museums across the US, Canada and globally reaching diverse communities beyond ethnic and cultural boundaries.
