Sensory Explorers

Grades K - 2

Join us for an adventurous journey into the world of our five senses! Each week kids will delve into taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing through fun games and creative combinations exploring music, art, drama, yoga/movement, books, inside-out science, nature/animals and food designed to stimulate sensory awareness and learning. Engaging young explorers’ imaginations in making musical instruments and creating soundscape stories, hands-on art and cooking activities experimenting with colors, scents, textures and more will encourage powers of observation, curiosity and teamwork. Students will present an end of session celebratory showcase for family members. Themes and projects may span several weeks.

Some Examples:

-Sound Vibes – whispers, echoes, listening and seeing sound vibrations, 'dynamics' paintings…

-What Do You See? – visual perception, shadow, illusions, mystery detectives, memory tricks…

-Guess & Describe It – touch, taste, feel, yucky-yummy-icky, messy, contests and challenges

Dancers are encouraged to wear comfortable attire to move in. Leggings and a tee-shirt or leotard/ tights. Because of the floor, ballet slippers are required (pink/white/black preferred).
