Myths & Make-Believe

Grades K-3

.... or Unicorns, Yetis, & Dragons...OH MY! Who doesn't want to live in a world filled with magical myths and legendary creatures! Drawing on children's wild imaginations and notable mythology from around the world, students will explore the worlds of fantastical beasts such as Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot and leprechauns... are these beings just storied characters or is there truth to their existence, once upon a time!

This class incorporates mythology through cultural and historical context, creative projects and activities that will connect traditions and symbolism to understand how different social meanings are embedded in make-believe. Students will take what they have learned from all these unique species and to create-their-own-creature by session's end. This is a multidisciplinary class that will have elements of movement and yoga, mindfulness, STEAM, visual arts, theatrical and group games and improv. We aim to end the session with Creature Feature Celebration!

Our After-School program is listed from 4-5:30pm, allowing all students to arrive on foot, by bus or drop off to make it in advance of instruction time between 4:30-5:30pm. Drop off students may arrive anytime after 4pm.
