At the Park Avenue Community Center, we take immense pride in fostering an inclusive environment that embraces diversity in all its forms – race, religion, ability, gender, sexual orientation, and beyond. Our commitment to ensuring that every individual feels respected, valued, and included is unwavering, and we will continue to publicly uphold this foundational belief.
Right now, people of color, members of the Latino community and other immigrant communities, and those in the LGBTQ+ community feel threatened and under attack. While we read and hear what is happening, it may seem that many of these actions do not directly impact our own community. But that is untrue. I have heard from members of these communities and they are deeply fearful.
So it is with deep regret that I report we have had to cancel our Family Life Arts Cultural Series: Colombian Festival on February 28 because many of our performers and members of the Latino community in Delaware County are anxious and scared.
I want to assure you that here at the PAC Center, we will not stand by in silence – even as we respect and protect our partners in programming who feel at risk.
We feel that community is an antidote to despair. We encourage you to strengthen your personal networks and extend friendship to the wider community. As we remain steadfast in our commitment to caring for and supporting our entire intergenerational community, we invite you to join us in showing up and making a difference.
Thank you for all that you do.
In partnership,
Rosemary Fox, executive director of the PAC Center
