With his “West End Blues,” Armstrong gave the world the most extraordinary and influential 12 bars in jazz history. In this talk, John explores early jazz in New Orleans and how Armstrong’s rhythmic feel and harmonic mastery became the model for jazz musicians in the first half of the 20th century.
The night will begin with a cocktail reception.
