Tammy Budnovitch has been writing Pysanky since she was a young girl. Tammy, along with her brothers, would decorate eggs to be placed in the basket to be blessed for Easter. These eggs were written with a pin that was placed in an eraser of a pencil. They would dip the pin in beeswax and then drop and pull the wax on an egg to make a design. Tammy learned how to write Pysanky from her mother, Sonia, and grandmother, Olga. It is a tradition that is very important to her and wants to keep it alive by teaching others this beautiful Ukrainian art form.
