Housing Affordability Forum

  • Park Avenue Community Center 129 Park Avenue Swarthmore, PA, 19081 United States (map)

Housing costs in Swarthmore have been rising fast. It has become hard for some residents to continue to live in the borough, or for others who could contribute to the vibrancy and diversity of the community to move in. This reality is changing the nature of Swarthmore.

This forum brings together four distinguished speakers with expertise in aspects of housing and affordability: Patricia Bell of the Housing Equality Center of Pennsylvania, Joseph Gyourko of the Wharton School, Rebecca Ross of the Delaware County Planning Department, and Bo Wright formerly of Kennett Collaborative and Strong Towns.

Brief presentations will be followed by a discussion moderated by task force member Jayatri Das and audience questions to explore the affordability problem and the way it’s being approached in other communities. A reception will provide an opportunity for informal conversation and offer ways to get involved.

Free (but advance registration is appreciated)

Sponsored by the Swarthmore Development and Affordability Task Force.
