Garden Totem Workshop Community Project

Be part of something new! Our first community art project designed by inaugural artist-in-residence Martha Perkins. Come create a lasting legacy for your town (and yourself)!

Martha has a love for gardening and the outdoors, which is reflected in much of her artwork. Naturally then, she has chosen a Garden Totem project to create with community members.

These garden totems will be crafted from found or repurposed items such as broken plates and ceramics, and then covered with colorful mosaics. After they are completed, the totems will be installed in public outdoor spaces to be enjoyed by those living in and visiting Swarthmore.

All are welcome to help create these totems at FREE monthly workshops. No previous artistic experience is necessary — just come and have fun while we create together!

The finished works will be installed throughout town in places for the public at large to appreciate and enjoy in the spring of 2026.
