Transatlantic Singer-Songwriter Zoe Mulford is visiting her native Swarthmore from her home in Manchester, England. She will present a short family-friendly program (45 minutes or so) beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Amphitheater outside the Swarthmore Public Library. (Weather forecast is perfect!)
Backing her voice with guitar or Appalachian claw-hammer banjo, Zoe has established herself as a contemporary songwriter with a grounding in traditional American, English, and Celtic music. In 2018, Joan Baez covered her song “The President Sang Amazing Grace.” The song was voted 2018 Song of the Year by Folk Alliance International and was published in 2019 as a book with illustrations by animator Jeff Scher.
Thus far, she has recorded 5 albums of her own music. During this stay in the US, she will appear at the Fox Valley Music and Storytelling Festival in Geneva, Illinois, early in September, with another road concert in North Carolina later in the month. If we’re lucky we’ll hear Zoe perform a full program in Swarthmore during the winter of 2024.
Check out her website, https://zoemulford.com/, for more about Zoe and links to her music. And bring your own chair or blanket for this Wednesday evening’s program. Spread the word; bring your friends to this musical treat!
