Lake Shore Quartet 2025
The Lake Shore Quartet
October 19, 2025 at 7:00 PM
Juliette Kang and Salley Koo, violins; Kirsten Johnson, viola; Amy Sue Barston, cello
Park Avenue Concerts is proud to open its 2025–26 season with the return of the celebrated Lake Shore Quartet, performing two deeply expressive works of the string quartet repertoire. The program features LEOŠ JANÁČEK’s String Quartet No. 1, “Kreutzer Sonata”, a gripping musical response to Tolstoy’s novella of the same name, which the composer read and immediately began setting to music in a burst of inspiration—crafting a dramatic and emotionally charged narrative through sound. Paired with ANTONÍN DVOŘÁK’s warm and folk-inflected String Quartet No. 10 in E-flat, Op. 51, this opening concert promises a stirring start to the season, highlighting two Czech masters at the height of their powers.
